If you want to know why there have been no other zinc lozenges that are effective common cold treatments, it is a matter of his patents (now expired)! George Eby patented all of the zinc lozenge formulations that were effective common cold treatments, thus all of the other zinc lozenges in stores used non-infringing formulas that are not effective.
